2018 brings $20 million budget challenge to RTA

The start of a New Year brings yet another budget challenge to RTA.
Because of a change in Federal regulations, RTA's sales tax revenues
will be reduced $20 million annually, beginning in the fourth quarter
of 2018. RTA General Manager Joe Calabrese explains the background of
this issue, and what it means to RTA, its customers, and the
community.

directly affected your ridership experience include: Saturday service
to Edgewater Park, late-night C-Line trolley service to Flats East
Bank, Green Line service extended to midnight, service on the new
MetroHealth Line, and the start of VanShare service.

2018 capital plan: Focus on upgrading rail infrastructure

RTA's $115.9 million capital budget -- separate and distinct from the
operating budget -- includes about 80 percent federal and state
grants. Besides completing work on the East 34th Street rail station
in 2018, RTA will:
•Begin a $1.6 million project at the Farnsleigh Station on the Blue Line.
•Start a $5 million reconstruction at the East 116th Street Station.
•Upgrade track on the Red Line, between the West 117th Street and West
Park stations.
•Upgrade two key tracks at Tower City.
•Begin major behind-the-scenes projects to improve radio
communications, electrical substations, and fiber optic systems

Jan. 5-14: Disney magic returns to Quicken Loans Arena

The magic returns to Quicken Loans Arena this month, when Disney on
Ice gives 14 performances of quality family entertainment. To reach an
event at Quicken Loans Arena, park for free at a Rapid Station, buy a
$5.50 All-Day Pass, ride the Rapid in warmth to the Tower City
Station, and stroll down the 1,000-foot Walkway to reach your seat.
You never have to go outside. The Walkway opens 3 hours before each
event, and at 3 p.m. when the Cavs play at home.
