** OSUE Cuyahoga County Updates

Spring is a time of renewal and our office is taking it literally in
2018!  Ohio State Extension, Cuyahoga County’s office has moved.  Our
new location is at the Fairhill Partners building at, 12200 Fairhill

The parking lot entrance is off E. 124th St.  To locate the door
nearest to our office take an IMMEDIATE right upon driving into the
complex off E. 124th St., this will take you the parking area adjacent
to Fairhill Road.  You will see a walkway leading to two sets of
double doors, enter through the first and use the buzzer on the left
to pass through the second set.  Walk up the stairs and sign in at the
reception desk.  If you use the main building entrance, under the
overhang, ask the nice people at the front desk to direct you to Wing
E.  Upon entering the wing you will see the reception desk.

The main characteristic we looked for in a new location was space to
grow our program staff and this location has it!  Our space includes a
training room and a room solely dedicated to Master Gardeners of
Cuyahoga County.  In addition to our space, the building has other
gathering spaces we can rent as we need them.  Our sincere expectation
is that this location will help us serve you better.

For a bit a building trivia, Fairhill Partners Building was once a
naval hospital.  Because it was, from the aerial view it is shaped
like an anchor.  We challenge you now to google the building and take
a look.  If you do you will be a little more familiar with the
location we call our new home!

Our office is looking for three motivated students to join us for the

Dig In! Community Garden Training Program
OSUE Cuyahoga is currently accepting applications for Dig In! a
Community Garden Training Course.  This nine-week program will provide
a foundation for community members wishing to begin or maintain a
community garden. Classes will meet Thursday evenings, from 6:00 -

2018 Northeast Ohio Small Farm Workshop
Saturday, April 28th 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Medina County Extension is pleased to offer the 2018 Northeast Ohio
Small Farm Workshop for new, existing, and aspiring farm businesses.
This workshop is designed to help landowners increase profits from
their small acreage. During the program, participants will be
challenged to develop realistic expectations for their small farm.

Wooster Scarlet Grey and Green Fair
The OSU Wooster Campus will be home to the 8th Scarlet, Gray and Green
Fair on Thursday, April 26th, 2018 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.  This
festival celebrates, educates and demonstrates that "Green is for
Life!" There will also be a Renewable Energy Workshop from 10 am to

Summer Urban Greenspace Manager Position Available
The Gardiner Lab in the Department of Entomology at The Ohio State
University seeks a Summer Urban Greenspace Manager

. This individual will be responsible for maintaining (including
mowing, trimming, mulching, weeding, and trash removal) a network of
urban vacant lot greenspaces. The selected candidate will also assist
Mary Gardiner with establishing experiments and collecting data from
the vacant lot sites.  These habitats were established in 2014 and the
Gardiner Lab is examining their value for arthropod conservation. The
individual selected for this position must be able to drive, operate
equipment such as lawn mowers and weed whips, and enjoy working
independently and be comfortable interacting with the public.

Explore Ag, a summer science camp
Do you know a high school student interested in science, engineering,
and technology? Would they want to explore how those interests could
be applied to careers in the food and fiber industry? Explore Ag is a
summer science camp for Freshman and Sophomores interested in science
and food. The camp is free with a registration deposit. Dates and
locations for camp: The Ohio State University June 10-15 and OSU-ATI
June 17-22.  Application deadline March 30.

Youth Advocacy and Leadership Coalition
The 4-H Youth Advocacy and Leadership Coalition is a civic leadership
program for youth ages 13-18 in Cuyahoga County. The YALC develops
young adult leaders by training and supporting them in advocating for
youth issues and linking them to their communities through service
learning experiences. YALC meets on a regular basis to plan fun,
hands-on activities for Cuyahoga youth. To join YALC or for more
