If looking for remote work, dont limit yourself by location. Search the entire US and other countries.
Many medium-size and larger  businesses want you to register on their website to even be considered.

Research the company before applying.
What do people say about them online?
  Are they hiring for many positions?
  Do they align with your own interests and values?

Avoid job scams:
Make sure the company actually exists. scammers post fake jobs to get personal info. Scams to take your money include:
Work from home jobs that target young mothers, the disabled and senior citizens.
These include stuffing envelopes, assembling products, and receiving and shipping items.

Watch out for the most common red flags which include:
Does the job ad offer a complete description?
Will your employer provide training and support?
How long has the job ad been posted? Some sites have outdated job ads.

Avoid those with no website, email or location.
Do they want you to call them for more info?
Do they want to  speak with you privately, either at a private residence, or using voice, video and text chat?
Do they want you to pay money up front? Don't do it!

Use the at sign followed by company name.

To find jobs, skim through hashtags that post jobs. Click the links and apply for them.
To network, spend time following people and interact with them.
For career advice, join twitter chats and click on links that people share for a given hashtag.
Read the content they share and retweet posts you like.
Respond to comments they made to start a dialogue and meet decision-makers in human resources.

LinkedIn Profile Tips:

Choose the right profile picture for LinkedIn.
Make sure picture is recent and looks like you.
Your face should take up around 60% of the photo.
Long-distance shots don’t stand out.
Wear what you would like to wear to work.
Smile, show your eyes. (wear sunglesses if eyes have been removed and you do not own prosthetics.

Add a background photo.
Make your headline more than just a job title. Do not use the headline to list your skills or job titles.
Turn your summary into your story. Many leave this blank when creating their profile.

Do not overuse buzzwords, adjectives including:
specialised, leadership, focused, strategic, experienced, passionate, expert, creative, innovative and certified.
However, adjectives like these are great for resumes.

Tips to grow your network.
Synch your profile with your email address book.
Follow meetings and conversations with connection requests List your relevant skills, but not too many. Do Not list skills you think they want, but you do not possess.
Fill out the Services section of your profile to boost your visibility in search results.
Endorsements from other members add to your skills and increase your credibility.
Ask for an endorsement for a few key skills, and manage your endorsements more proactively.

Take a skills assessment online test. Display verified skills badge on profile. Verified skills make you 30% more likely to be hired.

Request recommendations. Use rop-down menu in the Recommendations section. Reach out to relevant contacts to request recommendations.

Showcase your passion for learning by completing a course on LinkedIn Learning. Add completed course certificates to your LinkedIn profile.

get credit for thought-leadership by posting anything you have created
including: blog posts, YouTube videos, Zoom events, whitepapers, etc.
publish long-form content, and use it to start conversations.
