A message from Rose Sloan:

Federation family,

As many of you know, and as President Riccobono mentioned in his President's
Notebook, there has been a lot of discussion in St. Louis regarding fair
wages for people with disabilities. Last month, a board bill was passed that
increased the minimum wage and ensured that people with disabilities also
received at least the minimum wage. However, since then, an alderman has
introduced a bill to reinstate the exemption that allows people with
disabilities to be paid subminimum wages. This bill will come up for a vote
on Friday, October 2. Over the next thirty-six hours, we need to show our
support for Mayor Francis Slay (@MayorSlay) and Alderwoman Christine
Ingrassia (@Chryssi) by tweeting them to reaffirm that they did the right
thing. Everyone deserves #fairswages.

Please use the following tweets as inspiration to create your own. Let's let
our voices be heard!

Thank you @chryssi for supporting #fairwages for #PWD.

It's TIME to Eliminate Subminimum Wages for People with Disabilities

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.

Make a gift <https://nfb.org/make-gift> to the National Federation of the
Blind and help ensure all blind Americans live the lives they want.
