Assistive Technology Specialist

Saint Lucy School for Children with Visual Impairments

We are seeking an Assistive Technology Specialist to teach in a resource
room of academic students who are blind and visually impaired. Consider
being a part of an amazing, energetic, and dedicated team of vision
professionals.

Qualifications

A bachelor or master’s degree in computer education and/or special
education.
Familiarity with Voice Over speech synthesizer software for iOS
technology, familiarity with Apps that provide accessibility to the
blind/visually impaired, knowledge of the operation of the Apex Braille
Note Taker Plus and familiarity with Braille embossers.
Familiarity with accessibility options such as magnification, large
print, and reverse polarity.
Ability to maintain appropriate data collection in order to monitor
student progress toward IEP goals.
Ability to teach the technology curriculum to students with modification
for vision loss.
Willingness to collaborate with special education teachers
Responsibilities Include

Ability to determine functional and academic implications of eye reports
and implement environmental and academic adaptations accordingly.
Develop and keep data for IEP goals to address educational needs
identified through assessment.
Develop lesson plans and unit plans according to the curriculum
established by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Ability to collaborate with the general education classroom teachers in
order to facilitate inclusion.
This is a part time position, one day a week throughout the school year.
