A current vacancy exists for a Training and Consultation (TaC)
Specialist within the Student Services division at the Chester County
Intermediate Unit. This role focuses on providing training or
consultation to adults utilizing research-based strategies for students
with special education needs. The successful candidate will provide
state of the art, customized staff development for CCIU staff,
public/non-public schools and community agencies within Chester County.
This position requires knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities
Education Act (IDEA), PDE regulations and mandates with particular
knowledge and skill in Assistive Technology, social emotional learning,
and/or meeting behavior and mental health needs in students.

*Qualifications:*

  * Master’s degree in education required with emphasis on special
    education preferred.
  * Instructional II certification in Special Education required.
  * At least 5 years’ experience teaching or related educational
    experience, preferably in the classroom where services are provided
    to students in special education programs.
  * Experience planning, organizing and delivering staff development
    activities.
  * Experience with IEP development, inclusion, challenging behaviors in
    the classroom


*Duties and Responsibilities:*

  * Apply current research in creating customized educational
    supports/services.
  * Offer a range of relevant training opportunities from an
    introductory overview to in-depth, longitudinal program development
    to meet the needs of educators in the area of special education.
  * Anticipate and research current topics of interest to a wide range
    of educators.
  * Work with state education agencies to interface, collaborate, and
    support statewide initiatives. Utilize and disseminate PDE materials
    and information.
  * Develop strategies for helping schools translate information
    generated by state accountability and assessment programs into
    improved practice.
  * Assist local school districts in maintaining expertise in Inclusive
    Practices and LRE issues and related topics.
  * Provide direction in creating the structural and cultural elements
    that sustain new classroom practices.
  * Provide opportunities for educators to network for the purpose of
    continuing professional development.
  * Provide site-based consultation, technical assistance and
    professional development tailored to meet LEA requests. Provide
    follow up and implementation support as appropriate.
  * Assume other responsibilities as requested by the Director and
    his/her designee.


*Salary 2020-2021 School Year:*

  * $51,181 to $83,466 - Instructional I Certification
  * $53,464 to $86,855 - Instructional II Certification
  * $56,949 to $94,953 - Master's Degree
  * $60,793 - $100,548 - Master's + 30


*Schedule:*
5 days per week, 7.5 hours per day. 194 days per year for new
professional employees/191 days for professional staff in year two/190
days in all subsequent years.
