Widener University is currently seeking an Assistant Director in The
Office of Student Accessibility Services. This role reports to the
Director of Student Accessibility Services and Associate Provost for
Student Success and provides support to students with disabilities
from all Widener University academic programs and campuses.

institution, and works closely with the Chief Diversity Officer to
facilitate that commitment. Faculty and staff are active participants
in our work to enhance diversity, equity, & inclusion, including
representation on the Faculty Council Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Committee and the Diversity Leadership and Inclusion Council.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Essential duties:

  *   Coordinate and administer academic accommodations for students
with disabilities including providing testing accommodations, securing
textbooks in accessible formats, and facilitating student use of
Widener's assistive technology
  *   Maintain data on Student Accessibility Services' outcomes
including utilization, demographic information, quality assurance, and
student learning assessment
  *   Provide comprehensive support and direction to students and
their families on accessing academics effectively
  *   Maintain confidential student files including contact notes and
diagnostic information
  *   Remain updated on legal precedent changes within the scope of
reasonable accommodations and accessibility
  *   Champion innovations around accessibility systems, tools, and policies
  *   Understand and practice compliance with the ADA, Section 504 of
the Rehabilitation Act, FERPA, HIPAA and other state and federal laws
as they apply
Secondary responsibilities:

  *   Provide guidance and training to faculty and staff on how to
increase accessibility and inclusion for students with disabilities.
  *   Facilitate skill building workshops for students to increase
academic and coping strategies.
  *   Present accessibility and other support services to prospective
and incoming students and families.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:

  *   Master's degree in Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling,
Counseling Psychology, Education, Higher Education Counseling or
related field
  *   Two (2) years of relevant experience working with people with disabilities
  *   Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990; Americans
with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008; Section 504 of the
Rehabilitation Act; the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, and
other appropriate laws
  *   Expertise and proficiency with creating accessible content in
digital formats, including web-based content, social media, and
educational materials
  *   Previous academic coaching experience and/or work with academic
accommodations
  *   Ability to work with confidential information
  *   Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability
to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
students, families, faculty and staff
  *   Proficiency with MS Office and Adobe (including accessibility features)
Preferred:

  *   Ability to interpret diagnostic testing and evaluations
  *   Familiarity with Title IX
  *   Experience in an accessibility's office environment
  *   Experience in higher education
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:

  *   Occasional need to flex hours as needs arise and/or attend
weekend marketing events
