Hi Becky,
I’m so glad you could come in the tour, and that you enjoyed it!
During the call to prayer it sort depends when and where you are. In some countries like Saudi Arabia, all business stops. People pull over on the side of the road to pray even! However, in most places people aren’t usually this observant. You aren’t required to pray all five times so usually when you hear the call to prayer start you’ll see a group of people excuse themselves to pray, but in most countries most people go about their business. One difference is during the holy month of Ramadan. People try to pray more regularly during this time, so more things do shut down. As a non-Muslim during the call to prayer I follow the lead of everyone else. If everyone stops to pray I’ll find a bench somewhere and wait. Praying only takes 5-10 minutes. IF most people work through it though I’ll just keep going about my business too.
I hope this answers your question. IF you want to know more just let me know!
Best,
Kevin

Very nice of you, Harriet, to arrange this trip to Egypt. The question I wanted to ask, but couldn’t, as I was untangling my yarn, was, what do we do when the time of prayer comes. Like if we are on a tour, or shopping at the market. I am assuming everything stops for the alotted time of honoring their tradition, but I don’t really know.

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you who came with us to Egypt today! We had a wonderful experience and are so glad that you all were able to join the Keystone Chapter for this one-of-a-kind audio tour. We are also greatful to Kevin from the Penn Museum for this wonderful opportunity! Additionally, no one came back to PA with any COVID symptoms!
We do plan on more of these in the future. So, if you missed this one, there will be other audio trips in the future. Stay tuned!
Sincerely,
Harriet
