Yes, it is true what the gal from the PA Equine Council said, that your
mini will need to have a negative coggins test. All horses that cross the
state line are required by law to have a negative coggins on record. The
Coggins test is good for 12 months, then should be updated with your
Veterinarian. I'm sure you can coordinate with the Veterinarian when he's
scheduled for a routine visit to the barn where you have lessons.
We will also send your mini with a "Certificate of Veterinary Inspection
(CVI)" aka health certificate .These are good for usually around 10 days &
are required for your horse to move to PA. The health certificate is just a
1 time expense. No worries though, we'll take care of those expenses for
you when the time comes.
For an example, I'll attach a copy of the Coggins test & the health
certificate paperwork from our Veterinarian. This is for a mare I sold to a
nice family earlier this year. Of course, your paperwork will be specified
to your mini.
I haven't heard back from Laureen about her possibly donating a mini or 2.
I'll text her today & see how she's doing. Her daughter just got married,
so I know she has been really busy this past month. It's hard not to bug
her everyday, LoL. I know she's a busy gal & I'm extremely lucky that she
is even giving us the consideration, but I'm so dang excited to get
started. Ha!
Which that brings me to the next thing I've been working on, with you in
mind...
I have a trimming client, her name is Bonnie, I've worked for her many
years. She has a small business breeding registered miniature horses. On a
much larger scale, Bonnie also breeds & shows Collie dogs on the National
level. Bonnie has 2 stallions that are direct offspring of the multiple
world champion miniature horse named Buckaroo. Recently, Bonnie offered a
huge discount if we wanted to buy a filly she has for sale. The mini
horse's name is Eliza (We can change her name to anything you like). She is
a beautiful 2 year old filly & is perfect in every way for being a guide
horse. Bonnie wants to help our organization by giving us the lowest price
possible, which is $450. My heart skipped a beat. This filly is easily
worth 4 times that amount.
Eliza's hair on the body is light in color. Which is good for those summer
days when your outside walking. The sun is reflected by a light colored
coat, as opposed to a horse with a dark coat, which absorbs the sun's heat
more easily. Eliza's mane & tail hair is all white. The little soft fuzzy
baby hairs around her eyes, nostrils, lips & is dark in color. This makes
her look like a pretty girl wearing makeup. Eliza is very fancy looking &
will draw lots of attention. It'll create opportunities for you to interact
with & educate people about respecting the space of a working team.
I'll attach a picture of Eliza...
So what are your thoughts?
If you think Eliza sounds like a promising option, I'll buy her for you &
make arrangements to bring her to my barn. We can figure out the paperwork
side of things as our Equine Eyes non profit organization catches up. I'm
hoping to start filing with the Secretary of Illinois State this week.
