Hello everyone,
We are pleased to share that Greater Philadelphia Chapter (GPC) and Pennsylvania Organization of Blind Parents (POBP) member Yvonne Hughes will be honored at the Philadelphia City Council meeting on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in recognition of her advocacy work.
The City Council meeting will begin at 10 AM. Please note that other City Council business will be conducted during the meeting, so the exact time of Yvonne’s recognition is unknown. We encourage members and supporters to attend and show support for Yvonne, as she has consistently shown up for and supported the disabled community.
The meeting will be held at:
Philadelphia City Hall
1400 JFK Blvd
Room 400
Philadelphia, PA 19107
For more information, and of course to congratulate her, please contact Yvonne Hughes directly at 215-966-9614.
We hope to see many of you there to support Yvonne on this well-deserved honor.

The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination, and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
