JOB SUMMARY:
The Technology Trainer performs evaluations and provides training to
blind and visually impaired individuals in the areas of business
computer applications, assistive technology, typing, and braille.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
?  Perform evaluations to determine participants level of technology need
?  Develop and implement participant training plans based on the
individual needs
?  Provide one-on-one and group training to participants covering
business computer applications, assistive technology, and braille
instruction
?  Observe and document participant performance
?  Assist in developing curriculum and related training materials
associated with access technology, office skills, and basic computer
skills
?  Maintain records necessary to measure participant progress and
submit performance/progress reports with recommendations.
?  Meet regularly with supervisor to discuss participant performance,
training plans, progress, curriculum, etc.
?  Attend participant staffing and report on participant progress
?  Provide on-site employment technology support
?  Attend and participate in departmental meetings
?  Maintain organized and clean work environment
?  Provide website and software accessibility consultations
?  Assume additional responsibilities, perform other duties, and
complete special projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
?  4 years of progressive work experience in the education or
rehabilitation of individuals who are blind or have vision impairment
?  Associate or Bachelor's degree with specialization in computer
science, education, rehabilitation, or a related field
?  1 year experience in the education or rehabilitation of individuals
with visual impairment, and/or other disabilities, is preferred
?  Experience using Windows 10 operating system, Mac OS, iOS, Jaws,
Voiceover, and Android OS
?  Proficient reader and writer of Braille
?  Proficient user of notetaker devices such as Braille Note and Braille Sense
?  Must be able to pass Texas Workforce Commission (TWC)-Assistive
Technology Unit proficiency test as assigned, and have TWC Technology
Evaluation and Training Approval within 90-days of hire or at earliest
testing opportunity, whichever comes first
?  Must be able to pass a proficiency examination, access technology
categories (speech programs and screen readers, scanners, Braille
displays/note-takers, and Windows OS) prior to the end of the 90-day
orientation period
?  Ability to conduct evaluations and train others effectively
?  Effective written and verbal communication skills, including
communicating and working with people with disabilities
?  Extensive experience using current versions of Microsoft Office
including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
?  Bilingual Spanish/English speaking preferred
