To: Michael McCulloch <mdmcculloch1 at gmail.com>

Hi,

I am Michael McCulloch, the 2024 Ski for Light Team Texas coordinator. The
mission of Ski for Light (SFL) is to enhance the quality of life and
independence of visually or mobility-impaired adults through a program of
cross-country skiing.

Although it is over 100 degrees across much of Texas, it’s time to start
planning for the 2024 Ski for Light International Week. We had 12
participants on Team Texas attend the 2023 SFL Event in Granby, Colorado
this past January/February.

We are so ready to get back on the snow and are looking to send an even
larger Texas contingent to the 2024 SFL Event. We are also hoping to have
some of our mobility impaired friends join us this year. Please join us
for the 2024 SFL Team Texas kickoff meeting on Zoom.

WHEN: Tuesday, July 18, 2023, 7:00 PM Central Time.

First, we will share highlights from the 2023 SFL International Event that
occurred this past January/February. Then, we will discuss plans for
participating in the 2024 SFL International Week, scheduled for January 28
to February 4, 2024. The SFL event will be in a first-time location,
Rhinelander, Wisconsin.

About Rhinelander

Nestled in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, Rhinelander maintains itssmall town
feel with a warm and welcoming community. The 2020 census lists the
population as 8,285.

Rhinelander was originally founded as a logging town known as Pelican Rapids
and grew quickly during the lumber boom in the 1800s. The railway arrived
in 1882, and the town’s name was changed to Rhinelander, in honor of F.W.
Rhinelander, president of the Milwaukee Lake Shore & Western Railway.

The landscape is rich in forests, lakes and trails. Rhinelander Area lakes
offer some of Wisconsin’s best fishing. The community is known as the “Ice
Fishing Capital of the World.” With an average of 60 inches of snow a year,
the area also offers outstanding winter trails.

You can cross-country ski through snow-covered pines or glide along
tamarack bogs and groves of hemlocks. In short, Rhinelander is a nature
lover’s paradise.

In keeping with Ski for Light tradition, we will end the week with the Olav
Pedersen Race/Rally and enjoy the customary array of many off-snow
activities throughout International Week. Check out the SFL promo video at
