Hello NFBTX Family,

In case you haven't seen the April issue of the Braille Monitor, I wanted
to let you know that we will be offering several tours during and
immediately following the upcoming national convention. We will be
offering tours to Space Center Houston on June 30 and July 1. We will offer
guided tours of the Houston Natural Science Museum on the morning of July
1, and we will offer tickets to the Houston Astros game on Friday, July 7
(after the convention).

Ticket prices for the tours of Space Center Houston will cost $35.00 each,
regardless of age. This will include the visit to the center and roundtrip
transportation.

Prices for tours of the Houston Museum of Natural Science will cost $37.00
per person, and that also includes the tour itself and transportation.
Included in the tour is an exhibit developed by John Olson of 3-D Photo
Works. That is an accessible piece that depicts King Tut's sarcophagus in
three dimensions with all kinds of descriptive information. This piece is
part of the Egypt exhibit. Docents will lead tours, and while the museum is
aware of accessibility shortcomings, they are hoping we will visit and
provide feedback following the tour about things they could do to enhance
accessibility.

Prices for the Astros game are still being negotiated, but we have a group
planning to attend, and if you listened to the May 31 Presidential Release,
you heard a special announcement related to the game.

Pre-registering for tickets to any or all of these events will allow us to
contact you with an invoice you can pay online or over the phone. If you
pre-register, we will invoice you for the cost of your tour ticket(s). We
must receive your payment prior to June 26 in order to make your purchase
valid.

Many of you will be busy volunteering to help with the convention, but I
wanted you to know about these tour opportunities. Please, don't bail on
your volunteer duties, but feel free to share this information with others
who may be able to go even if you can't. And if your schedule permits, you
should feel free to take a tour yourself. You can direct people to the link
below for information and a chance to pre-order tickets.
