On Wednesday, November 13, The King County Council will hold a hearing and vote on an ordinance which would prohibit the county from paying disabled workers less than minimum wage and would also not allow the county to contract with any entity which pays disabled workers subminimum wages. While it has broad support and passed the relevant council committee unanimously it would be good to have a few people there besides me to show support and, if you’re comfortable doing so, to testify briefly in support of the ordinance. The council meets in the county courthouse, 516 3rd Ave., at 9:30 AM. This proposed ordinance is agenda item 11 and will have its own hearing, but agenda items 1-6 Are short items such as call to order and reading of the previous meeting minutes so it would be good to get there at the beginning of the meeting. Council chambers are on the 10th floor directly across from the elevators.
