RapidRide R Line - Events Postponed

Dear neighbor,

King County agencies, including Metro, are taking proactive steps to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). King County Metro has been directed by the King County Executive to postpone, cancel, or provide a virtual option for any Metro led public meetings, gatherings, or events through the rest of March 2020. This means that the RapidRide R Line open house scheduled for tonight, March 5 is being postponed. Metro staff are in the process of identifying other opportunities to gather public input on our current projects, including possibly holding virtual meetings, phone briefings, and gathering public comments through online platforms, email, mail, or phone. We recognize the importance of community feedback in our decision making and we remain committed to ensure community feedback is heard and considered before project design decisions are made.  

Why 

King County staff and agencies are being asked to implement  <https://seattle.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=8f083272c8b4530ae8b331013&id=4267fa849f&e=b1f45fa210> social distancing recommendations, which includes temporary closure or postponement of group gatherings and public spaces. This helps slow the spread of illness during an infectious disease outbreak, such as coronavirus. These types of recommendations can be challenging to plan for and implement, however King County staff, including Metro, have been asked to follow such recommendations for the safety and well-being of the community.
