Good news! We'll be able to include spot sidewalk repair as part of the Route 7 Transit-Plus Multimodal Corridor<https://seattle.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=8f083272c8b4530ae8b331013&id=05fd315022&e=6107dc4d59> project.

We also have illustrations to share showing the design specifics for the improvements coming this year. See below for more.

Sidewalk repair
We received approximately $1 million in funding from Seattle City Council to include sidewalk repair as part of this project. We'll now be able to repair the sidewalks along Rainier Ave S at the highest need locations as well as at some side streets.

What will the transit and crossing improvements look like?
We're near final design and are moving forward with this current map of improvements<https://seattle.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=8f083272c8b4530ae8b331013&id=095c7a4e2a&e=6107dc4d59>. We expect to build these by early next year. See visuals below of what the improvements will look like. (Click the photos to view larger versions.)

I-90 off ramp: New pedestrian crossing and curb ramps for better access to the Judkins Park light rail station (planned to open in 2023); includes a “transit queue jump” to give buses a head start at the traffic signal

21st Ave S/S State St: Curb bulb (extension of the sidewalk corner) to shorten this long pedestrian crossing and improve safety

RapidRide R Line project update
King County Metro had planned to upgrade Route 7 to RapidRide R Line<https://seattle.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=8f083272c8b4530ae8b331013&id=e83797a3f8&e=6107dc4d59> by 2024. Unfortunately, the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic reduced revenue and now requires Metro to pause RapidRide R Line until more funding is available. They will be exploring ways to resume this project as soon as possible.
