Subject: 1 Line and 2 Line service changes coming soon, prior to March 28
Crosslake Connection
To: ADA Accessibility <accessibility at soundtransit.org>

Greetings accessibility community,
This message is for 1 Line and 2 Line passengers:
As you may have heard, the 2 Line will begin serving Judkins Park and
Mercer Island stations on March 28! *Read the news release
<https://www.soundtransit.org/get-to-know-us/news-events/news-releases/crosslake-connection-opens-march-28>*
and
watch the *Crosslake Connection web page
<https://www.soundtransit.org/crosslake>* to learn more about this exciting
service expansion.
Before the opening, Sound Transit will begin operating the full 2 Line in
simulated service. This change will see trains crossing Lake Washington and
continuing toward Lynnwood City Center Station. When simulated service
begins, both the 1 Line and 2 Line will operate every 8 minutes.
Additionally, passengers will experience the following service changes:

*Between Lynnwood City Center and International District/Chinatown
stations:*

   -

1 Line and 2 Line trains will operate in both directions. With each line
operating every 8-10 minutes, trains will arrive every 4-5 minutes along
this part of the Link alignment for most of the day.
   -

2 Line trains will continue toward Downtown Redmond, across the lake in
simulated service. However, no passengers are permitted beyond Int’l
District/Chinatown. Security will travel on 2 Line trains south of Westlake
Station, announcing to passengers at every stop that they must exit by
Int’l District/Chinatown Station. They will also ensure all 2 Line
passengers exit before the train departs to cross the lake.
   -

Passengers planning to travel on the 1 Line beyond Int’l
District/Chinatown toward Federal Way Downtown should wait for a 1 Line
train. Passengers should pay attention to visual signs and audio
announcements when determining the correct train.
   -

Arriving trains will be audibly announced on the platform and from
inside the train after doors open. Overhead signage on the platform will
display upcoming train arrival times. All trains will display their end of
   line station.
   -

The end of line station for southbound 1 Line trains will continue to be
Federal Way Downtown. The end of line station name for 2 Line trains
operating in this Link segment will be Int’l District/Chinatown.
   -

Passengers relying on tactile information can use the GoodMaps app
   <https://www.soundtransit.org/blog/platform/good-news-riders-goodmaps-wayfinding-tool-five-more-stations>
to
get real time arrival information for trains on their mobile device at
Northgate, UW, Capitol Hill, Westlake, and Int’l District/Chinatown
stations. GoodMaps will add more Link stations later this spring to support
opening Crosslake extension. For each Link station between Int’l
District/Chinatown and Northgate station, passengers can use King County
Metro’s text for next departures service
   <https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/metro/rider-tools/mobile-and-web-apps/text-for-departures>
after
identifying the platform ID number through the One Bus Away app.
   -

1 Line trains will continue to be 4 cars in length. On the 2 Line,
trains will be 2 cars in length. All 4-car trains will stop at the far end
of the platform. 2 car trains will stop in the middle of the platform to
serve both tactile boarding areas. They will not span the entire platform.

*Between Downtown Redmond and South Bellevue stations:*

   -

Passengers can still take 2 Line trains between Downtown Redmond and
   South Bellevue.
   -

2 Line trains will continue westbound, across the lake in simulated
service. No passengers are permitted beyond South Bellevue Station.
Security will enter each 2 Line train at this station, ensuring all
passengers exit before the train departs to cross the lake.
   -

2 Line trains will consist of 2 cars in length. These trains will
continue stopping in the middle of the platform to serve both tactile
   boarding areas.
   -

Note: We will be testing various "operational scenarios" during
simulated service. These situations may affect service and/or limit
passengers riding 2 Line trains between Lynnwood and Int’l
   District/Chinatown stations for a period.
   -

As always, passengers who need assistance navigating the station or
identifying the correct train can request help from Sound Transit personnel
on the platform or by calling or texting Security at (206) 398-5268.

service as well as the opening of the full 2 Line, visit the *Service
