1. A Day in the Life with Brain Young, biotech Medical Research
Assistant
We’ve missed all of your smiling faces and are very excited to welcome you
back in person with A Day in the Life with Brian Young! Brian is a Medical
Research Assistant at a local Biotech company, Ontera
<https://www.ontera.bio/>. Ontera is convinced that better information is
needed to enhance human and environmental health in a sustainable way. They
have embarked on a journey to revolutionize diagnostics.
Youth of Tomorrow will go behind the scenes to understand the daily
workings of a job in the field of life sciences. Youth will explore various
lab and technician tools, hear Brian’s career path, and learn about the
variety of careers available in this booming industry. A casual lunch will
be provided prior to the Ontera tour to give the youth a chance to
socialize with each other and Ontera employees.
Round trip transportation to Santa Cruz is available from Vista Center, San
Jose. Please keep in mind CDC recommendations and coronavirus precautions
will be followed. This event is limited to 12 students.

disability rights. He recently completed his JD in law and is the founder
of Peaces of Me Foundation <https://peacesofme.org/>, an organization
dedicated to eliminating the stigma toward all chronic illness, disability
and physical difference. You don’t want to miss his engaging story and hear
about his career path that led to him to dedicate his life to helping
others who have faced adversity.
Also included in the conversation is Jasmine Kotsay, an aspiring teacher
who is visually impaired. She recently graduated from California State
University, Los Angeles where she studied teaching and hopes to make an
