Here is Just One of the many great things you'll experience at the 2011
convention of the national Federation of the blind of Virginia
Braille Carnival:
The NFBV Braille Carnival has been one of the most popular activities at
convention for years. The NFBV has always been a strong advocate of Braille
because being able to write your own notes and read them back to yourself is
a required skill for any occupation. The unfortunate truth is that too few
blind and low vision young people are not learning Braille and are therefore
unlikely to find employment. To combat this and to dramatically demonstrate
that Braille is not only useful but also fun, the 2011 convention presents
the Braille Carnival!
The Braille Carnival will be held in the Rappahannock Room from 7:00 P.M.
till 8:30 P.M. This is not only a way for parents to learn about what
Braille is, but also how useful and easy it is to learn. It is also a chance
for young blind kids to meet up with other blind kids and to make new
friends while enjoying fun and competitive games based on Braille.
If you were interested in learning about how useful Braille can be or how
essential it is to a child's development into an active and well educated
adult, you won't want to miss this year's Braille Carnival! If you are a
young person who wants to make new friends and to just have fun, the Braille
Carnival is the place to be.
This year's convention is hosted by the Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the
National Federation of the Blind of Virginia. The convention will be held at
Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront hotel, 5700 Atlantic Avenue Virginia
Beach, Virginia 23451 (757) 428-7025 or (800) 365-3032
