Please help spread the word about the new, unique and exciting event below!!
Calling all nature lovers!! You are invited to National Park's first Multi-Sensory Hike through Great Falls Park in Virginia. This walk will focus on auditory, historical, and natural aspects of the park. There will be a birder from the Friends of Dyke Marsh identifying birds from their calls, an interpreter helping you identify the local plants and trees by their shapes and textures. The trail has rich history of George Washington's life as a surveyor. This is an opportunity to experience nature through other senses. No sight needed for this event.
The event is FREE!
The hike is taking place on July 30th at 10:30am rain or shine! The hike is a 2 mile round trip on a level gravel path. It is not a physically challenging hike, but the path is strewn with many rocks and boulders. One side path has some uneven steps (some high). Good travel skills or a guide needed. Trained guides can be provided. The site is accessible via taxi or other ride service. Transportation can be provided from the Greensboro Metro Station on the Silver Line with advance arrangements.
The address is 9200 Old Dominion Dr, McLean, VA 22102. If you need transportation, please email Mary at mary_bielamowicz at nps.gov. Please RSVP asap @ mary_bielamowicz at nps.gov. More details will be provided after RSVP.
