Hello!


 


My name is Sassy, I hail from Richmond and work for a non-profit called Virginia Voice. We are a radio reading service and offer accessibility to culture and art for people with blindness or visual impairments. 


I am the coordinator for a fairly new program called Live Audio Description for theatre. We have found amazing partners in the past year such as Virginia Repertory Theatre, Science Museum of Virginia, and SPARC: Performing Arts Center. 


 


On Saturday, August 4th we are audio describing Knuffle Bunny, a children’s musical, at the Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn. 





 


Tickets are complimentary for every patron with a visual impairment, so they go fast! Along with the performance being described live through a discrete ear piece, we also conduct a tactile tour before the show even starts. This is where patrons with blindness using our service are able to touch key props, walk the set and feel the space, hear the actors voices and the colors of their costumes. That’s really the magical part!


 


Attached is a list of all the performances we are describing this 2018/2019 season. In addition, there is a flyer describing Live AD and just how it works in general.
