Please find below and attached the Board Meeting Minutes from the 01/16/2021
meeting.

 

The meeting minutes from the November 1, 2020 business meeting were
delivered by Mausam Mehta.

The minutes were approved.

 

Mark Roane delivered the Treasurer's report, outlining the balance of the
affiliate's General Fund as $88,104.34

Tracy announced that the contract with the outside fundraiser will be
cancelled.

The treasurer's report was approved.

 

Louise Walch delivered a BELL Academy update, in which she announced the
participation of over 25 Virginia students in the 2020 program. The program
will be delivered virtually in 2021.

 

Kathryn Webster delivered the Project Rise update, wherein she announced a
new staff position, employment coordinator, and encouraged greater
advertisement of the program.

                                           

Kathryn Webster delivered a report on safety and support from the
survivor-lead taskforce.

The NFB has partnered with RAINNE and faze 1 of training will be conducted
with the boards of directors of affiliates, divisions and training centers
before July.

In Virginia, training of BELL staff, the Scholarship Committee, and Project
Rise mentors will be a priority.

 

We then heard division and committee reports, giving updates about current
and new initiatives across the state.

 

State convention 2021 is currently scheduled for Oct 29 - 31, hopefully a
hybrid in-person/virtual event   in Tyson's Corner.

 

Legislative priorities for our Washington Seminar were discussed.

 

John Halverson gave an update on the resolutions passed at the 2020 state
convention, and appropriate next steps.
