The Greater Alexandria Chapter is at it AGAIN!

 

At what, you ask?

Well.let me tell you!

The Greater Alexandria Chapter is teaming up with the Virginia Association
of Blind Students to host a one-of-a-kind, totally unique,
roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-creative kind of event!  We promise this
experience will bring out the Picasso in you-REALLY!

MOSAIC & MILKSHAKES!  (Awesome title, right!)

We have invited Carol Erickson, a stained glass motif extraordinaire, to
share her talents in designing and teaching the art of stained glass
creations to all of us!  A little information about our esteemed
artist-Carol holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Fine Arts.  She has been
working with stained glass for over 25 years and is an award-winning glass
artist.  She also works in mosaics and fused glass, and has been teaching
"Paint Nights" to all ages for 9 years.  Carol loves to share her creativity
and encourage exploration in all facets of art.  Her motto is:  Let your
creativity soar!

Here is how you can get in on this very FANTABULOUS event!  (This event will
be limited to 20 participants.)

Date:    Sunday, May 7, 2023

Time:   6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Location:  Fairfax, VA (Address will be shared with those who successfully
RSVP)

Cost:    $30 per participant (includes an apron and all necessary tools and
supplies, a delicious

            milkshake with all the fixings, and you get to keep your
beautiful mosaic creation!)                                        

RSVP Deadline:  Tuesday, May 2, 2023

How to pay:  All payments will be collected through Zelle.  Please send

After you have made your payment to our Zelle account, please send an email

the participant and any guests who might accompany the participant, such as
a parent.

This event will be open to Project RISE and the Guides Program, as well as
all NFBV members.

Now here is the MILKSHAKE info!  We will have a MILKSHAKE BAR featuring the
most delicious milkshakes EVER, with fun fixings to your liking!  All paid
participants are invited to enjoy a milkshake, included in their package!
Parents or other guests are welcome to purchase a delicious milkshake at the
price of $5.00 per milkshake.  All proceeds from the sale of these
extraordinarily yummy milkshakes will go to the Virginia Association of
Blind Students!  So, drink up!

Our monthly meeting is nearly here!  This month I would like to start a
recurring conversation about the chapter, and our roles in it and the

Now that warmer weather is here, let's share our favorite activities we like
to do at this time of year.  Come ready to inspire others to try your
favorite spring-time activities, and be ready to be inspired to try
something new.

 

For example, attending the annual Fairfax Highschool spring musical is
guaranteed to be a showcase of fresh new up and coming acting and performing
talent.  Join the meeting and find out how you can partake in this community
event with members of the Fairfax Chapter.

Do you know what time it is?

It's time for the next Greater Alexandria Chapter meeting!  And this is not
just any old ordinary chapter meeting, my friend!  Oh no!  THIS is a special
meeting!  Do you know why?  Because this is the Greater Alexandria Chapter's
Anniversary Meeting!  This chapter was "born" Wednesday, March 29, 2017,
under the leadership and caring heart of Dr. Brian Miller. 

We invite you to join us to celebrate our 6th year of service to the blind
community in Alexandria and Springfield (and beyond!), Virginia!  We have
something very special planned for our Anniversary meeting and we hope you
will join us on Thursday,  April 27th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., ready for
fun and activity.hint, hint!

It is also time for our annual election of officers!  It will be very
important for all members of GAC to attend this meeting and cast your vote
for your leadership team!  Remember, only paid Greater Alexandria Chapter
members are able to vote, so, if you have not yet paid your dues of $5 for
