What's happening and zoom
Hey NFB family and Friends,
Its been a beautiful day and weekend! I hope everyone has had sunshine in
the air and in your heart. Smile, enjoy your week and share your heart and
talents with others!
Kudos Corner.
Hey, Uricka Harrison here.
Popcorn?
I am so glad you asked!!!
Support me as I represent the Virginia affiliate in the double good popcorn
fund raiser with the National Federation of the Blind community services
committee. The community services committee is a division of the National
Federation Of The Blind. Our main purpose is to give back in to the
communities in which we live by volunteering and having various outreach
projects. One reason that we raise money is to give scholarships.
Ready! Set! Let's get into this oh so delicioso Double Goodness. Popcorn
so good you will for certain lick your fingers. Forget the others! Double
Good is guaranteed to get your taste buds ignited. Flavor bomb me please!!!
Don't let this savory buttery treat pop pass you. Don't be one of those
kernels that doesn't pop otherwise you'll remain corny (HAHA). The fire is
hot and ready! The pop-up stores will go live March 3-7 @ 12 pm. CSD is
working with gas no brakes, so watch out! 3, 2, 1 Let's pop this right out
the bag. * Remember you can't have a fundraiser without the Fun. Click the
link and let's get poppin!

At the January affiliate board meeting it was indicated that we would hold a
membership committee meeting on March 5. Unfortunately, It has been
rescheduled for Sunday March 19 beginning at 2:00 PM. It should easily
conclude by 4:30 PM.
All chapter presidents are welcome and please designate a member to serve on
the membership committee this year and have that individual join us on March
19.
One of the major topics to discuss involves use of our new member portal. Is
each chapter adding names? Alternatively, you may wish to send new member
information to me for entry.
We will be using the Affiliate's zoom, see below.

Spotlight On.
Come join the Potomac Chapter for its next meeting on
International Women's Day, March 8, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM via Zoom (zoom link
in the Chapter Information section)
We will be visited virtually by the Blind History Lady herself, Peggy Chong,
who will present a discussion on blind women in history with a global
perspective.
Those of you who have attended Blind History Lady presentations in the past
know you do not want to, and cannot, if at all possible, miss this talk. If
you have not yet experienced a presentation by Peggy Chong, you must join us
to see what you have missed . . .
Mark your calendars; we are waiting to welcome you.
Christine Faltz Grassman, President
Potomac Chapter
Greetings everyone!
I hope everyone is doing well. If you use Paratransit service provided by
Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) you do not want to miss our next Tidewater
Chapter meeting. We are scheduled to have Mr. Keith Johnson, Director of
Paratransit services for HRT at this meeting. This follows our previous
chapter meeting where we met with Norfolk City Councilwoman Andria
McClellan who is one of Norfolk City representatives to the HRT board. She
listened to what we had to say about transit services and passed them on to
the CEO of HRT. This will be a great chance to find out what is new in
transit and let Mr. Johnson know our concerns and suggestions for
improvements. Our meeting is set for Saturday, March 18, 2022 from 2-3:30
PM in person at Ynot Italian Restaurant, 1517 Colley Ave., Norfolk, VA 23517
and on Zoom (details in the Chapter Information below.). We gather for
lunch at 1 PM before the meeting. Please let me know if you will be joining
us in person by Thursday, March 16 at 12 Noon so that I can let the
restaurant know how many people to expect. My contact information is at the
bottom of this message. I look forward to seeing many of you at our
meeting!
