Hello!

Have you ever met argumentative people you wish you could beat at their own
game? I'm talking about the know-it-alls in your life. You know who they
are. It's those arrogant jerks who are so convinced they have the answer to
everything that nothing you say will matter because in their eyes, the very
thought of you proving them wrong about anything is so astonishing as to be
redamnculous!

Well, fear no more. I give you the Sun Tzu Art of Mental Manhandling. Or,
Joe's Starter Guide to Making Those Egos Cry Uncle.

Intelligent debate is good for the mind. It's the kind of skill that can
make for well-informed decisions about what you believe, what you buy, and
who you will vote for. You don't have to be a politician, lawyer, or former
member of your school's debate squad to exercise your analytical muscles,
and almost anything under the sun is fair game for opposing views, from
serious discussions about school choice to less important questions like
whether Ranch really is better than blue cheese. The real point here is not
the argument, because just about any argument can be dressed up to sound
persuasive. The real lesson is choosing the right analytical process to see
the argument through its logical conclusion.

Listen, with only an hour, I won't have enough time to forge you into the
next Abraham Lincoln, or Stephen Douglas depending on your political stripe.
I can, however, use 60 minutes to teach you concrete ways to learn a few
well-chosen fundamentals about persuasion, not lame platitudes about how you
can do anything you want if you really believe. You'll walk out of my
session with the ability to use these persuasive skills to learn how to
negotiate your monthly bills. Why monthly bills? Because if you can't even
negotiate how much you pay for the Internet rates you want, you'll never be
able to effectively advocate for the reasonable accommodations you need!

And who's fault will that be? Yours! For not attending my workshop at the
state convention.

What makes me qualified?

I've been competing in mock trials since middle school. In college I
switched to debate and had the benefit of learning from some of the best
coaches on a national circuit. Now that I don't have controlled intellectual
sparring opportunities, I go out on social media and pick fights with the
smartest liberals I can find, because if I'm going to lose, and believe me,
that's rare, but if I'm going to lose, I'm going to learn from the best so I
can learn whole new creative ways to bring down my opponents.

In other words, who better to teach you about persuasion than one of the
most arrogant donkeys you know? I debate to win, and I can take the most
quietest church mouse and turn them into a wholesome powerhouse. I demand
the best, and even though that makes some people squeamish, I guarantee you
will love it.

I think highly of myself, don't I? Of course, because it's all about
attitude, and the warmup exercise is going to tease out yours. With only an
hour, we're going to go 0 to 60 at go.

>From one of the co-creators of the Chapter Leadership Institute comes the
debate workshop you don't want to miss, and you won't miss it if you're
parked in your seat 10 minutes before 2 PM on Saturday, November 4 in Room
18 at the upcoming state convention. Don't expect it to be recorded. If you
want in on this party palace, you'll show up in person.

Come on in if you've got what it takes. And even if you don't have what it
takes. In my ring, everyone is a winner, and you better be dang sure you
will earn it. We're going to have so much fun. I am beside myself with
excitement to see you!!!

Joe
