Hello everyone,

 

A friendly reminder that if you have an idea for a resolution but need
assistance in drafting one, please contact me as soon as possible, no later
than Friday, September 25, so that we have enough time to draft the
resolution before convention. If you would like to submit a drafted
resolution, please submit your draft to me by Friday, October 2. This allows
the members of the Resolutions Committee the opportunity to review the
resolutions in advance of the Resolutions Committee meeting. The Resolutions
Committee meeting will be held on Friday, October 23.

Please note: The proponent of any resolution must be present  in person to
speak on behalf of the resolution at the Resolutions Committee meeting on
Friday and at the NFB of Virginia Business meting on Sunday.

 

Many people are intimidated by resolutions because they have a complex
structure with all those awkward whereas statements. However, once you get
the hang of it, it's pretty simple.

 

How to Speak in Support or Opposition to a Resolution

  

1.	Resolutions being recommended to the Convention by the committee
will be posted to the web at http://www.nfbv.org/resolutions by 8:00 p.m.
EDT on Friday, October 23, or three hours after the committee meeting
(whichever is later).
2.	Those wishing to speak for or against a resolution on the floor of
the Convention must be present in person Sunday morning(October 25) during
General Session where Resolutions are discussed. Those who are attending
virtually and who wish to argue for or against a resolution should find a
friend who can speak on their behalf. We will only entertain comments in
favor or opposition to a resolution from those attending in person.
