[Nfbv-fairfax] Fairfax Chapter of the NFB January 17, 2019 Meeting

The Fairfax Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind will be meeting
on Thursday, January 17 2019 from 7:00pm - 8:30pm.  Those wanting to eat
dinner can plan to arrive between 6:00pm - 6:30pm.  The meeting location is:

We meet in the Meeting Room at the top of the stairs to the left.

Meeting Topics:

*	Collection of Membership dues, if you have not already paid the $5.
*	Richmond Seminar. 
*	Washington Seminar.
*	Cake Walk Community Service Project February 2, 1:00pm - 2:00pm,
Oldtown Fairfax City.- Cake donations and volunteer opportunities available.
*	Chapter Board of Directors elections -  All Board positions are
open.  The current slate of nominees are Annette Carr President, Bobbi Cohen
Vice President, Rodney Neely Secretary, and Joy Relton Treasurer.  We
currently do not have anyone nominated for the 2 General Board positions.
If you are interested in running for any of these positions, contact John
Bailey john_bailey17 at hotmail.com.  Nominations can also be accepted from the
floor at the time of the elections.  If you are nominating anyone, please
obtain their permission first.  Descriptions of each of the Board positions
are provided at the end of this message.
*	Only Chapter Members who have paid their $5 membership dues and are
present at the meeting during the elections can vote.

Fairfax Chapter Board Position Descriptions

*	President: oversees all chapter activities.   Facilitates and
coordinates a collaborative environment to support the work of committees
and the Chapter as a whole.  Attends monthly Chapter meetings and board
meetings.  This position is the face of the chapter at state events.
*	Vice President: represents the chapter at state events and runs
meetings when the President is unavailable.  Attends monthly Chapter
meetings and board meetings.
*	Secretary: Takes notes during all meetings.  Maintains documents and
records related to Chapter business.  Attends monthly Chapter meetings and
board meetings. 
*	Treasurer: oversees all Chapter related money matters including
managing the Chapter bank account, disbursing Chapter funds as approved by
the Chapter, and keeps the President and membership up-to-date on deposits,
withdrawal, and account balance.  Attends monthly Chapter meetings and board
meetings. 
*	General Board Member (2 positions): Contributes to decisions related
to Chapter business and mattered handled by the Board.  Attends monthly
Chapter meetings and board meetings.
