[NFBV-Fairfax] National Harbor Visit

Below are messages from Naim Muawia Abu-El Hawa  and John Halverson sent
over the past few days.  Information about the change in lunch plans, where
to meet and the water taxi, as well as John's correct iPhone number are all
included.  Sorry for the delay in sending this.  I was unexpectedly out of
town.

Hi Folks. Please distribute that The decision has been made to meet right at
the dock at the national harbor. Basically, the dock shares an address with
a rather expensive and beautiful restaurant, which could serve as a
landmark. The street address for The dock and McCormick & Schmick's Seafood
& Steaks is 145 National Plz, Oxon Hill. We could treat the restaurant,
which shares an address with the dock, as a landmark. However, the
restaurant is rather pricey, so it may not suit everybody's respective
budgets. Therefore, we may feel free to go elsewhere once we all convene.
Furthermore, we can just use the dock/restaurant as our meeting location,
for everyone to know. Also, Please remind your respective chapters that
RSVPs are due by 11:59 P.M., this evening. Many thanks and much respect.

We have had to make some changes to our plans regarding the Saturday
September 7 visit to the National Harbor.

 

Yes, the visit is still taking place.  

Yes, we plan to have lunch together.  

Yes, we plan to explore the area after lunch.

 

Some  of us will take the  water taxi from Old Town Alexandria to National
Harbor.  It runs every half hour from the dock behind the Torpedo Factory
Art Gallery.  A group of  us plan to take the 12:05 PM boat.  We should plan
to meet at the water taxi dock at National Harbor between 12:30 and 1:00 PM.

 

What has changed you may ask?  

 

We will find a restaurant or different groups may find different restaurants
for lunch.  The advantage of this is you are able to select your cuisine and
pay independently.  

 

Frankly, there appeared not to be sufficient interest to use Roses
Mexicana's private room as we suggested earlier.

The water taxis run in 30 minute intervals, starting at 9:35 in the morning,
and will cost

$18 per roundtrip ticket. These water taxis depart from 0 Cameron St,
Alexandria, VA. (703) 684-0580
