Chapter Board Election Results


We offer congratulations to the new officers elected at the November regular
meeting of the National Federation of the Blind Fairfax Chapter. Some names
are new and others you have heard before.

 

President - Annette Carr 

Secretary - John Bailey 

Board Positions - John Scroggs and Michael Beattie

Vice President - Vacant

Treasurer - Postponed due to schedule conflicts with nominees.  Jay Burke
continues to fill the position until election can be held.

 

Let's welcome our new and returning members for the best year ever.

 


Virtual Meetings Continue into 2022


The Board is monitoring the status of Covid-19 and its impact on in-person
gatherings. Feedback from Chapter members has shown a preference to wait
till the status of Covid was more certain before returning to in-person
meetings and events. So, all future meetings for the foreseeable future will
be via Zoom. 

 


Tech Tip:


Have you ever wanted your computer synthetic voice to just be quiet? Well,
for Jaws users, there is a simple way to easily turn Jaws speech output on
and off. Just press and hold down the Jaws key, then press the space bar,
and then let them up. Now press the letter "s"  key, and jaws toggles
between silent mode and full speech output. This keyboard combination can be
handy if you want to listen to a meeting without having Jaws talking while
messages come up on the screen.  JAWS is not really turned off, just silent
until you use the keyboard command again to toggle it back on.
