Please telephone Jody Silverberg as soon as possible and tell her what you are bringing to the party Saturday. So far, we only have commitments for brownies, cheese, crackers, fruit, paper goods and maybe some cider. Jody's number is 703 730 1716. Again, the party will be Saturday, December 9, at 3:00 in the Salem Church Library, meeting room B. Everyone is expected to bring something suitable for eating in the late afternoon-- neither lunch nor dinner-primarily finger food. If cooking or buying food is a problem, an entirely acceptable contribution would be paper cups, napkins, plates, or plastic cutlery. If your budget does not permit you to contribute any other way, you will be genuinely appreciated as part of the clean up crew. It is imperative to leave our space at least as clean as we find it!

This is an important meeting because we will elect officers and board members for next year. There is no proxy voting. Anyone who votes must pay dues prior to the election's commencement. We have at least one member who joined our chapter by paying his dues at the convention. Before the election, we will vote him in, as well as anyone else who joined us between chapter meetings.

I am keenly aware some people are unhappy the party is not in a restaurant or other equally festive location. What we are doing this year is not without precedent. Some of our chapters routinely have their holiday parties in either the home of a member, or in a party room which is part of either an apartment building or townhouse community. Please give this experience a chance and celebrate the season with all of us in the Historic Fredericksburg Chapter.

I want to thank the two chapter committees who are working hard to make Saturday's meeting enjoyable, meaningful and productive. Jody Silverberg is our social committee chairwoman. Kaitlynn Jordan and Mark Ross are on the committee with her. Single handedly, Kaitlynn made all the arrangements for our location, and it was not as easy as it might sound.

Leon Anderson is the nominating committee chairman. Serving with him are Michael Kasey and Mark Ross. Mark will not be attending our meetings as regularly from now on because he is the newly elected treasurer of the recently revived Prince William County Chapter.
