Marilee and I went to visit her mom at Gordon House Thursday evening. When we arrived in the room, we found her unresponsive. She had laid down for a nap and died in her sleep. That's what we all wish for -- a peaceful and uncomplicated parting. 

While this is indeed a sad moment, we are very pleased with the way the situation had progressed over the last several months. She stayed in her apartment for a very long time and enjoyed her social life there. Then she went to assisted living and finally to Gordon House. She had a very good experience at Gordon House and was visibly pleased to be there. 

Arrangements for the funeral are being finalized this week. She will be buried next to her late husband in Charleston, West Virginia. Details need to be coordinated with Marilee's brother on the west coast.

Tomorrow, Saturday, we will be tending to family matters and regret that we will not be attending the chapter meeting. Thank you for understanding.
