The library’s address is 1201 Caroline Street. Usually, we are in meeting room 1, but it is easy and helpful to check at the desk. Punctuality is essential this month because the meeting must adjourn shortly before 11:30 at the absolute latest if there is any chance at all of me arriving on time for our state board meeting in Richmond at 1:00. Brittany, our vice president, cannot take over because she will already be in Richmond participating in activities required of all Chapter Leadership Institute trainees. She is our member of the Chapter Leadership Institute.

UPCOMING MEETING – Our regular monthly meeting of the Historic Fredericksburg Chapter of the NFB will be held this Saturday morning at the downtown main library at 10 AM. As part of the meeting, there will be a session on some technologies that can be a benefit to a visually impared person’s life. There will be two areas of tech looked at on Saturday along with questions and discussion.
First on the agenda will be the computer and websites and WiFi. Some information on smart items.
Next, we will talk and demonstrate how useful APP’s and a smart phone can be to a person’s life. I know we all hear scary prices when smart phones are mentioned but there are some ways to lower costs and the Federal government is talking about some changes to help the BVI.
I am an iPhone user as are many in the BVI community. They have been the leader in accessability for a long time. Other companies are improving and are talking about things thay have coming but not here yet.
Most APP’s are available on all types of smart phones but I can not speak to how well they work on other phones.
I even have some magic phone numbers for computer problems and what maybe a a real problem solving APP.
One last thing, what is your birth month and day (year is optional). I would like to add it to our member information file. You can give it to me Saturday or e-mail me with the info. I just think it is nice to say Happy Birthday.
