[NFBV-Historic-Fredericksburg] Informal but Extremely Important Poll

We are attempting to revitalize the Fredericksburg chapter with a dynamic young top leadership combination, far more stimulating programs and much better structured meetings. This effort requires participation of as many members as possible. Once again, therefore, we need to take a hard look at our meeting time. Is each of us willing to make a commitment to at least two hours per month to our Historic Fredericksburg chapter? If so, it would really help to have some information.

Do you want to meet on a week day evening, or a weekend during daylight hours? We really want to accommodate as many people as possible. If you want a week day evening, which one is best for you? What day of the week? What week of the month?

If you want a weekend meeting, do you prefer morning, or afternoon? What weekend of the month?

Here are some thoughts I would really appreciate if you would please consider seriously, especially if we ultimately select a time which is not your first choice. Weekends consist of Saturdays and Sundays. Although some people are highly offended by Sunday meetings for religious reasons, please remember people of other religions might have the same problem with Saturdays. Blindness is not confined to one or two religious faiths. We each need to make certain everyone feels welcome at our meetings, regardless of what religion he or she practices.

Evenings are a concern, especially for anyone who does not feel safe being out at night. There are ways we can help one another. We can form car pools. Some of us can take a little extra time to wait at the bus stop with anyone who is willing to use public transportation. This is neither a blindness nor an independence issue! Many women and senior citizens are more willing to use public transportation at night if they don't have to wait alone at the bus stop. My heartfelt plea, as out going president, is for all of us to be much kinder to one another.
