In this editionof theCrier, I want to share some recent TV and Podcasts that I hope you findinteresting and enlightening. Then I am including an e-mail announcement Ireceived from Be My Eyes and their recent agreement with the NFB. I hope youenjoy.
First - PBS last week aired a NOVA onself-driving cars. It was titled something like Look Who Is Driving. I listenedto it and found it quite interesting. Check it out on PBS.org.
Next I listened to a new podcast from Blind Abilities this morning. Theyintroduced a new website called Menus4all.com. This site is updated often andhas 50,000 menus from 12,000 cities all around the country. I have not tried ityet but it would allow you to check out a restaurant from home or on your smartphone in the restaurant. It might save a dinner companion a lut of reading

Today, on the occasion of White Cane Day,we’re happy to announce that we’re welcoming blindness organizations to the BeMy Eyes platform.

The blindness experts from The National Federation of theBlind are now ready to take calls through Be My Eyes tosupport Americans who are blind or have low vision with questions and concernsrelated to blindness.
NFB is a membership organization of blind people. NFB supportsblind citizens of the United States by offering programs, services, informationand resources to defend the rights of blind and low-vision Americans. NFB isnow expanding their services by offering a direct line of contact to theirexperts through Be My Eyes.
The NFB experts are available for support through Be MyEyes Monday through Friday 10 AM to 4 PM EST. The services are availablein English and can only be accessed in the United States. The NFB can becontacted by selecting them from the Specialized Help menu in the Be My Eyesapp.
If you have other requests for companies or institutionsto become a part of Specialized Help, please fill out our Specialized Help submission form,and we’ll do our best to include them on the platform.
