Hello friends and volunteer colleagues,

the month of August is around the corner, and as such so is the National Federation of the Blind BELL Program!

Now is the time to volunteer your time, Braille skills, Cane skills, driving, video editing, and or anything else you can think will be of great use for our BELL kids.

NFB BELL is a two week program designed for kid’s ages 4 to 12, in which the areas of basic skills of independence are taught, with an emphasis on Braille, literacy, exploration and fun!

The BELL Program will run from July 31 to August 11, from 8:30am to 3:30pm at St. George’s Episcopal Church. Walking distance from the Virginia Square Metro.

Below are a list of roles which you might find fit you well. Please give me a call at 917.532.7439. Or preferably, send an email with your name, number, preferred volunteer position and times to alexandera.castillo at gmail.com.

There will be a mandatory Training on Sunday July 30 for individuals who want to volunteer directly with the children. You will also be asked to have a background check and we will provide that information.

We would love if you could assist with:
• Braille readers for story time
• Volunteers for our 2 field trips
• Runners for picking up every day items
• Volunteers to work with our kids (any volunteers working directly
with the children must go through a mandatory background check)
• Drivers for our field trips

Of course, contact me with any questions.

Thank you all and hope to see you all soon!
