Below are the notes from the Technology Fair meeting.

Meeting Notes

May 6, 2019

 

Attendees:  Georgia, Karin, John, Sandy, Angie, Matt, Sarah, Kathryn, Sean
and Nancy

 

Demonstrator Update:

 

Tracy will demonstrate Google Home.

 

We still need demonstrators for Navigation Devices (including AIRA.)
Haven't heard back from Dan Frye.

 

We discussed additional technology including BARD, artificial intelligence
technology such as Seeing AI and additional low vision items.

 

Sandy will talk with Angie Moran, TVI who works for DBVI and was going to
work with Sandy on labeling and other low-tech items.  Either Sandy or Angie
can do BARD.

 

We discussed that folks may download BARD books using different equipment -
computer, iPhone, Android and Victor Stream; so, iPhone, Android and Stream
demonstrators may all add BARD downloading to their demonstrations.

 

Seeing AI demonstrator not assigned. 

 

We decided to save additional low vision items until the next Tech Fair.

 

There was a question as to whether demonstrators should have a script/plan
for their demonstration or just answer questions when asked.  The consensus
was that demonstrator should have a plan in advance as they only have a
short time with each person.

 

Greeters, Registration and Snacks:

 

On-site registration:  Patty Droppers will register walk-ins.

 

Snacks:  John and Sandy will contact venders for items.  The Chapter will
purchase where necessary. Two volunteers will set up snacks and assist
attendees as needed.

 

Greeters:  Kathryn, Georgia, Nancy and one additional person.

 

Pre-fair visit to Community House:  Nancy will contact Tracy about arranging
this.

 

Publicity: flyer ready to be distributed.  john send to Georgia and Karin,
who hadn't received it.  Sarah has posted it on Facebook, Event Bright and
other event calendars.  She is working on distribution to newsletters and
media. please keep Sarah in the loop if you send the flyer to personal media
and newsletter contacts to avoid duplication.

 

Next meeting: Monday, May 20 8:00.
