Hello Colleagues and Friends,

The October Fairfax Chapter meeting is not cancelled!!! It will go on as planned.

I understand a message has gone out to the Fairfax chapter list indicating the October 17 meeting is cancelled. This is not true. See below from Annette.

John

The Fairfax Chapter of the NFBV meeting will be held tonight, Thursday, October 17. Please ignore the unidentified e-mail stating the meeting was canceled. It was not sent out nor approved by the Chapter board.

We are looking forward to seeing you tonight. See the below message for all of the details.

The Fairfax Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) will be meeting on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 7:00pm - 8:30pm. Those wanting to purchase dinner can plan to arrive between 6:00pm - 6:30pm and join us for networking and catching up with old and new friends.

Agenda and meeting information are provided further down in this message.

The meeting location is:

Red Hot and Blue

4150 Chain Bridge Rd,

Fairfax, VA

703-218-6989

(Corner of Chain Bridge Road & Judicial Drive)

We gather in the Meeting Room at the top of the stairs to the left. If this changes, restaurant staff will inform you of our seating location for this evening.

Our topic this month will be renting and buying a home. Have you been thinking about renting or buying a home? Do you know what to expect from the process or if you need to do anything different if you are blind? Please join the Fairfax chapter of the NFB on Thursday, October 17th, 2019, for this engaging conversation surrounding the home buying and renting experience. Our guest speaker will be Sheila Carney. For all who may have paused and considered thoughts of entering real estate as a blind consumer, as well as those who have experience with renting and/or buying a home, you will not want to miss this interactive conversation. As we hear from Mrs. Carney, the sharing of experiences from our NFB members, and answer questions from those new to the renting and home buying process, the evening's discussion is sure to be informative. Owning a home is the American dream. Having the information you need to be an informed consumer will allow you to live the life you want.

Attached is an article we will use to get us started in the discussion. If you prefer to read the article online, the URL is:
