What is the purpose of the Public Forum? The purpose of the public forum is to solicit input from DSB constituents and stakeholders on the submission of the Department of Services for the Blind's State Plan for the Vocational Rehabilitation and Supported Employment Programs.



When will the Public Forum be held? The public forum will be held on May 6, 2009 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Seattle DSB office located at: 3411 S. Alaska Street, Seattle, WA 98118.



What is the State Plan for the Vocational Rehabilitation and Supported Employment Programs?

The State Plan is the Department of Services for the Blind's (DSB) contract with the federal government to administer the State Vocational Rehabilitation Services and the State Supported Employment Services Programs authorized under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. The State Plan also describes DSB activities related to various administrative and operational considerations connected to the programs.



Why is DSB updating the State Plan?
DSB is required to update specific attachments to the State Plan on an annual basis and all others when information needs to be updated.

What are the required updates?
*       Attachment 4.2(c) Input of State Rehabilitation Council
*       Attachment 4.10 Comprehensive System of Personnel Development
*       Attachment 4.11(b) Annual Estimates
*       Attachment 4.11(c)(4) Goals and Plans for Distribution of Title VI, Part B Funds
*       Attachment 4.11(e)(2) Evaluation and Reports of Progress

How can I participate?
*       Read last year's (FY2009) State Plan update on the DSB website at http://www.dsb.wa.gov/whoWeAre/lawsAndRegulations.htm.
*       Attend the May 6, 2009 Public Forum being held at the Seattle DSB office.
