[nfbwatlk] Why don't we?

Beth,

You're absolutely right. I would also like to see us do more for youth
since youth will be what carries this affiliate into the future.
Washington hasn't been stagnant on this issue. We've been inching our
way forward. Like you, i'd like to see us inch a little faster and
cover more ground.

This spring, I know we're planning a youth seminar. Would you be
willing to help in the project? I also need some students to help me do
the work of the student division (which is struggling for multiple reasons).

Washington State has a few challenges that can make things interesting
for planning big programs like you've seen nationally. For one, we're
not as rich in funds or membership as Utah for example. We need all
hands on deck to fulfill both needs. I invite you to join those of us
who are interested in youth development in building events for youth
and an environment that will support their membership in our movement.

If you're interested, I'd like to talk with you about your ideas. My
number is 360-920-5213. You know, perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea to
have some kind of conference call for those who are interested in youth
development so we can get something going? I know we discussed having a
movie and social hour for local youth at our fall convention. I can't
remember, but I think we were a little hesitant to pursue it when we
discussed it at our spring conference because we weren't sure how to
fit it into our fall convention schedule. If I'm correct, perhaps we
need to revive and rethink the idea and make it happen provided that we
can make the time and have sufficient folks to work it. I think we can
if we're creative enough. Comments from the affiliate?

Respectfully,
Jedi
