Now is the time to act.  If you have unlimited LD, call each of the members
of the House Ways and Means Committee and voice your displeasure at the
proposed cuts to the State Library budget.  If you can, please email them
also, voicing your anger.

House Ways & Means Chairman Ross Hunter today released the House Operating
Budget. This budget did three things:

1.   The State Library remains under the Secretary of State, but is cut 22%.

2.   The Legacy Oral History Project remains under the Secretary of State,
but is cut almost twice as much.

3.   The Heritage Center Account, set-aside to fund the new home for the
State Library and the State Archives, is permanent diverted to other
programs.

Phone and email the members of the House Ways & Means Committee and tell
them you oppose these cuts.

Phone and email those House Members who represent you and tell them you
oppose these cuts.

Over the last 10 years, the State Library's funding has been cut 36% and its
staff has been cut 52%. Enough is enough.

Another 22% budget cut, coupled with a needless and expensive merger, will
be devastating.
