Hi,
The "best" screen reader in my opinion is in the eye of the user, no pun
intended.
Jaws is great in some areas, where as Window eyes is better in others.
It is all dependent on your budget and what you would like to accomplish.
For example, flash and system access works better when using jaws or Window
eyes.
NVDA is light on system resources, and it's free.
Over at Blind Access Training, we provide web development training and
Window-Eyes is the best screen reader to use when doing such a thing.
With system access and Window-eyes, both offer payment plans for their
screen readers.
In closing, asking the question of what is the best, it all comes down to
what you would like to use it for.
If it's money, then NVDA is the way to go.

Subject: [nfbwatlk] Question on what is the best screen-reader to use?

I have a question on what is the best screen-reader to use.

I sure cannot afford jaws any more.

I am getting less than $800.00 a month now that my husband has passed away.

If you all could give me suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

Gloria Whipple
