I believe some credit for the portion of the Executive Order from President
Obama that includes disabled workers in Federal contractors srequirement to
receive $10.10 per hour is due to the influence of the current and newly
appointed Secretary of Labor, Tom Parez. He has been a friend of the blind
and indeed of other disabilities throughout his career in Civil Rights for
DOJ and when he was director of OCR in the Department of Health and Human
Services. He was interviewed on one of the national talk shows last evening,
and was asked about how the disabled got included, and acknowledged his
interest. He deserves our gratitude as well.
