I am relieved that the surgery went well and that you are recovering.

Dear Fellow Federationists,
Although I have been home since Easter, this is my first day for any serious
ork at the computer. It has been interesting to read about how I was doing
wo weeks ago, since otherwise I really don't remember much about it.
Last week was busy with stuff like learning to take and record vital signs;
howering independently; getting established with a home health nurse and
hysical therapist; understanding my level of endurance; and getting some
est along the way.
Yesterday's follow-up visit to the heart surgeon indicated that some initial
rregularities in heart rhythm have apparently corrected themselves, and so
he need for a pace maker is not very likely. Also, the big incision as
ell as all of the little puncture wounds where tubes and wires were
nserted seem to be healing well without complication.
I am just trying to strike that balance between staying as active as
ossible while not over exerting and causing any threat to the healing
rocess--not always an easy balance to strike!
Anyway, I won't bore you with any further details, but will say thanks to
ll for so many good wishes and expressions of concern. I believe I have
ead everything that has crossed the list and some individual messages as
ell, and I really appreciate the kind words.
The radio show is in reruns for a few weeks, so perhaps I will have a chance
o work on some NFB stuff!
Cordially,
Ed

ello, everyone,
I want to let all of you know that Ed is doing as well as can be expected.
e is off the ventilator and the feeding tube is gone, but he is on a
emporary pacemaker which regulates the heart rhythms. He is weak and he is
n some pain, but I think he will feel just a little better with every
assing day. I'll talk to him again tomorrow, but, in the meantime, I do
ave some bad news. He says that he has temporarily lost his radio voice,
smile.) Thank you all for your calls, thoughts and prayers. They all mean
o much to us.
Peace,
aren
