Subject: July Update - DST and IT Professional Deadline is Right Around
the Corner!

Recently I had the benefit of attending and exhibiting at the National
Federation for the Blind's National Convention in Dallas from June 30
through July 4. I enjoyed spreading the word about the life skills and
career training options that we offer at World Services for the Blind to
the parents, potential clients, Lions Club members, instructors, and
representatives from colleges and technology firms that I met with. The
overwhelming response about WSB I kept hearing was "keep up the good
work," and I was invigorated to learn that our name is recognized
throughout the blind and visually impaired community for the level of
service that we are able to provide to our clients. It was also
wonderful to hear from the visitors to our booth that their relatives or
friends, or in some instances they themselves, received training from
WSB and had a pleasant and rewarding experience that led to successful
employment and sustainable independence.

As I was visiting some of the other booths, I was impressed by the
amount of vendors that that were providing products that made computers
and other technology devices more accessible to the blind and visually
impaired. There was a wide variety of new and improved products for
magnification, speech output and GPS systems, all of which will make day
to day life more accessible for individuals with a visual impairment.

Persons who are interested in learning more about working with computers
or assisting others to use computer technology would benefit from some
of our technology-based career training programs such as our Desktop
Support Technician, IT Professional, Assistive Technology Instructor or
Programming. It is not too late to enroll for our Desktop Support
Technician or IT Professional training programs. We will begin the
evaluation process for those programs on August 6, and the programs
start on September 4.

Graduates from DST will acquire certifications in A+, Network+ and
Windows 7. Graduates from both the DST and IT Professional programs
will be able to assists users through computer repair issues either
directly or remotely, and as an IT Professional they will also be
prepared to manage and maintain a computer network for a business or
organization.

Please contact me so that I can assist your clients in joining us for
training in either of these two programs, and thank you for all of your
support and referrals. We here at WSB truly value and appreciate our
partnership to provide sustainable independence to the blind and
visually impaired community.

Regards,

Emily
