Federation Family:

We have been busy here in Huntington this month and at the same time are
having to cope with several changes in things, so please make note of
the following

Seminar Date Change
Our Spring Seminar, scheduled for May 11 has been rescheduled to
October. The tentative date will be October 19. Several situations
presented themselves as our planning progressed, all of which resulted
in the mutual decision to step back and regroup in order to ensure a
successful event. Happily the program and other planning which chapter
members worked so hard to design will all move forward to the fall date.

Successful Fund Raising Event
What do you get when you combine a cool, cloudy day with a group of
energetic Marshall University students? A successful NFB Huntington
Chapter car wash fundraiser. A neighbor who is an undergrad at Marshall
approached me just over a week ago, quite desperate to identify a group
in need of volunteers who had to complete a community service
requirement. A quick plan was developed and yesterday our first car wash
took place at the Advance Auto Parts store near the Marshall campus.

I have been a rather noisy sceptic of social networking, that was until
yesterday when I saw the results of the students using their social
networks to bring in friends and others to the event. Despite rather
poor weather for having the car washed, we did well for our first time,
and we will continue the relationship with the instructor of this class,
and offer an opportunity every semester for more groups to work on
funding the movement.

Buck Saunders
I just talked with Mary Ann who provided a very grim report with regard
to Buck's condition. He is confronted by several serious issues, which
in combination are very devastating. His family is with him, and thanks
everyone for the thoughts and prayers which are more important now than
ever.

Mark Robertson
On a happier note, Mark was released from the hospital Friday and is
back in the saddle working on some very interesting and promising
outreach to several businesses seeking support for the Federation.

Upcoming Chapter Meetings
We are going to have several interesting chapter meeting presentations
in the next several months. We will discuss the use of tactile maps and
a technology which provides talking labels on the maps with a
representative of the Cabbel Wayne Association. We will also be taking a
first hand look at new accessibility options for the Android smart phone
platform.

Sincerely,

Brad Hodges
