I want to thank Karen Swauger for sharing this.  As Karen notes, they left the word, blind, out of the school.



I was at WVSDB while Jack was superintendent.  I don't really recall ever meeting him.  He seemed to have a lot more to do with the deaf part of the school.

Jack W. Brady. Jack Witmer Brady, 91, died after a short illness on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, at home under the care of Hospice Savannah.



Born on March 2, 1927, in Waycross, Ga., he was a son of Henry and Evelyn Brady. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 siblings; his daughter, Ruth Ann Brady; and his mother-in-law, Margaret Bristow.



Jack was a World War II Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific. He spent his career in the education of the deaf and served as Superintendent of the Schools for the Deaf in West Virginia and Kentucky as well as the Atlanta Day School. He served as National President of the Administrators for the Deaf and was a member of the West Virginia Superintendent's Advisory Council of Education. After retirement, never one to stay idle, he became principal of the Northwestern Regional Education Program in Winchester, Va. After moving to Savannah, he was a paraprofessional in special education at Windsor Forest High School, as well as a counselor at Consumer Credit Union. Jack was a wonderful husband, father, step-father, and friend and personified the true meaning of the word "gentleman. As any one of his many friends or family members can agree, one of his greatest attributes was patiently accepting his wife's seemingly endless acquisition of Poodles.



His survivors include his wife, Rosalind; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Brady of Rome, Ga.; his step-daughters, Emily Glick of Savannah and Elizabeth Acosta and her husband Sal of St. Clairsville, Ohio; step-son, Jack Glick and his wife Heather of Culpeper, Va.; and 2 grandchildren, Olivia and Liam Glick. He also leaves behind his favorite Poodle, William.



Services will be private, and a Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
