NJABS Minutes

 

The Teleconference began at 8:11pm. We had three (3) guests from the Georgia Association of Blind Students (GABS), Isaiah Wilcox, president, Mary Fernandez, secretary, and Shelby, board member. We also had Bill from New Mexico who just organized the Oregon Association of Blind Students. We had the honor to hear from Isaiah and Melissa Lomax talking about their experience at youth slam. They discussed what tracks they were on, such as Rocket Tree and Journalism. They also talked about how their minds were broadened. Ben, who also attended Youth Slam, talked about how he gained confidence throughout the different team-building activities. The deadline for Youth Slam applications is March 1, 2009. The cost is $250. Don't let the fee be a reason for why you shouldn't apply. If you need financial assistance, you can contact Joe Ruffalo, our affiliate president.
