Oh my goodness! Isn't there a huge difference between a whale and a shark? When you say that the mentors don't treat you like a baby, do you think that they're doing it for a reason? I remember telling you that I don't like to bust anyone's chops as long as they do what they're supposed to be doing.
Thanks for sharing your exciting experience, Missy!

Subject: [Njabs- talk] Youth Slam Blurb
Hello all!
I was given the oppertunity to attend the Youth Slam in 2007, the year that I, alongside 199 other blind high school students, helped to make history. I had a lot of fun meeting people my age from accross the country, hearing the mentor's experiences and advice, and of course, learning that I could do things involving science and technology despite my blindness. I was taught how to disassemble and then reassemble a computer, measure the amount of color in particles by using laboratory machines, and although it was quite a disgusting experience, I did disect a shark...or was it a whale? I forgot. Anyways, it really was a lot of fun! I met some really good friends there. They stress the importance of independence, which I liked because I was not treated like a baby. If anyone has considered attending the Youth Slam this summer, you made a great decision!
See you there,
Melissa- Missy <3
