Hi patricia and members. Ken here. there is a similar scam on windows/microsoft. this is a fake windows defender that gets onto your system via what is called a drive by download. it used the famous windows blue screen of death. this fake security program called itself microsoft security essentials. if you are using windows 7 or earlier you used that antivirus program and if you are using windows 8 up you use what security essentials became that being windows defender. basicly what this fake essentials does is it freezes the mouse making it appear the computer is unresponsive. next it disables the task manager so you can’t remove this fake essentials. it puts into that blue screen of death a phone number that when called will do that same thing. they want money for from you and if you let them work on your computer, they’ll work on it all right Huh? microsoft says if by chance you get this fake essentials on your computer scan with defender offline. that will kill that little bug. I had some piece of junk where a voice came on warning me of a virus telling me call this number. it was effecting my browsers so ran both defender and malware bytes and malware bytes killed it. you should try malware bytes I like it www.malwarebytes.org.
