[NJTechDiv] Learning to type on the iPhone

My husband just got an iPhone. He is also blind. He is an excellent
typist, but he's having trouble learning to type using the onscreen
keyboard. When he types on a real keyboard, he doesn't hunt and peck-his
fingers just know how they're lined up and where to go.

I remember having the same problem. I learned to type on the phone by
opening Notes and practicing, but he had a lot of trouble with that approach
last night when we tried it.

Is there a better way to learn how to use the onscreen keyboard?

I thought of using dictate instead, but most of what he needs are user IDs
and passwords, and I don't think dictate works for that. Or does it?

And can we turn off the darn dictionary, so it stops confusing things
further with useless suggestions?

Thanks for any ideas.

Tracy
